Bringing plants into your home will improve air quality, reduce stress, and create a feeling of well-being. In honor of House Plant Appreciation Day, we have paired our favorite plants with their ideal room settings.
ENTRYWAY | FIDDLE LEAF FIG
A fiddle leaf fig, or palm plant, will make a lasting first impression in the space your guests see first. Place your plant on the floor next to a bench or coat rack. Make a statement with prints like Toucan or Intersections Black, or go subtle with Meadow.
DINING ROOM | SUCCULENTS
Succulents are perfect for a centerpiece as they are small and low growing, so they will not overpower the table or block great conversation. Also, add these tiny potted plants to the top of a credenza or infuse in a bar cart display carrying your favorite drinks! The perfect removable wallpaper print to pair with a house plant like a succulent would be White Brick, Wood Planks Shiplap White, Peonies Gold, Gold Leaf Pearl, Grasscloth Sand and Hello Sunshine.
BEDROOM | SNAKE PLANT
Sleep sound with a snake plant by your side. A snake plant is the perfect bedroom plant. It's hearty and one of the most tolerant plants that can absorb excessive amounts of carbon monoxide and filters other toxins from the air such as benzene, xylene, trichloroethylene, and formaldehyde. Add it to your nightstand so it’s the first thing you see when you wake up or place it on a dresser beside a dish of jewelry and a candle. Don’t forget a saucer or drip tray for your plants to protect your furniture and floors! Some suggested peel and stick wallpaper prints for a snake plant are Swell Mist, Brass Belly Pearl, Travertine, Grasscloth Bronze, Feather Flock, Intersections Bronze, Halo Coco and Sand.
BATHROOM | STRING OF PEARLS
If you are looking to add greenery to your bathroom, but don't have space, then String of Pearls is a great addition. This style succulent is usually hung from the ceiling or put on a high shelf so that its string of beads can hang graciously. Make sure to add it to a bathroom that has a window, String of Pearls love indirect sunlight. Prints that we suggest for a bathroom or powder room are: Flamingo, Shift by Bobby Berk and Mosaic Tile.
LIVING ROOM | SPIDER PLANT
A spider plant is one of the easiest plants to care for and will purify the air in your home. Spider plants trail, so it is best if they are hung, but they also do great on a shelf, side table, or sofa table. Best of all, the spider plant is easy to propagate, so they are great for sharing! Simply cut off a baby and place it in water, and within 6-8 weeks it will be ready to plant. Some favorite living room prints that pair great with a spider plant are Shibori Indigo, Forest by Cosmo Living, Birchy Barky by Genevieve Gorder, Birds by The Novogratz.
