Woohoo, wall mural is finished! 💜🗻
I loved painting my mum's house as a kid, orchids on my cupboards, rainbow stripes on the walls and whatever I felt like at the time haha thanks mum!
I wanted to give that same opportunity to Tahnee, to create something for her own space after having shared a room with her younger brother for many years.
Here she painted on blank removable wallpaper from tempaper_designs
The beauty of this is that she can just peel it away when she wants a refresh :)

...and this is what happens at the end of February in Minnesota! The mural is now compete, the table has returned to its proper home, we are not eating off of step ladders or canvas tarps and have added some new plant life to our dining experience. This all started when I wanted to add a dash of excitement to the space. Ideas can quickly escalate in this brain of mine. I began with tempaper_designs by You (paintable, blank wallpaper) covering the whole ceiling. This allowed me freedom for wild brush strokes and layers of paint without causing harm to the smooth surface of the ceiling. In my original design I was going for a very precise geometric shape, that is until I realized the chandelier is not perfectly centered in the room. Dynamite to that idea. I then decided to practice my not-so-perfectionist-let-go-ness and treat the ceiling more as a canvas. A couple quick sketches, some brief visual help from Hector (the projector) and I just started painting! I really enjoyed the process, I’m proud of trying a style that is new to me and I’m pleased with the juxtaposition of a wilder pattern in this very tailored room! And for all you smarties who often react with a side eye “but how long will you keep it?” response to my projects (I guess I do have a thing for change - smirk), all it takes is a little peel and I’m back to my smooth white ceiling whenever I get the whim for something new. .

My plan is to go dark with the paint and create my own officialcricut stencil to add a pattern over the dark paint on the temporary peel and stick wallpaper. 🤞
